Recently, the "Construction of the New Engineering General Education Curriculum System" of our school was recognized by the Ministry of Education as the "National New Engineering Research and Practice Project". Our school is also the only private college in Shaanxi that has been approved for project establishment.
The project was presided over by Wang Yan, the assistant president of our school. The College of General Education and the College of Information Engineering jointly applied for the project. The project took more than three months and was finally approved through communication review, expert group review and other links on the basis of the recommendations of the ministerial universities, provincial education administrative departments, science and engineering teaching guidance committees and relevant industry associations (schools).
The thinking and construction of "the construction of the new engineering general education curriculum system" is the innovation of the general education college and the information engineering college in the teaching mode, which has the following three characteristics:
First of all, the College of General Education cooperates with the College of Information Engineering to increase the goals of general education on the basis of ensuring the realization of the original curriculum teaching goals. For example, when teachers teach a certain knowledge point, they can give a multi-dimensional explanation from the dimensions of philosophy, history and sociology; At the same time, guide students to think about the impact of knowledge points on individuals, society and the world; In addition, it also provides students with reading bibliography in different directions to learn a certain course from different dimensions, and pays attention to the integration of the vision, ability, knowledge of general education and the attitude and skills of professional education.
Secondly, in order to supplement the lack of humanities courses for engineering students, the College of General Education has also set up a special course named "Humanities Literacy" for engineering students of the whole school. To make up for their partial knowledge structure. In this way, students can become new engineering talents who can be welcomed by enterprises through four years of continuous training.
Moreover, in order to improve the realization of the training goal of "new engineering" talents, the College of General Education standardized the process of curriculum design, conceived the idea of "curriculum factory", and strived to improve the quality of general education courses:
The goal of this project is to redefine the general education goal in the training of engineering talents through the joint research on general education and professional education under the new engineering background by the College of General Education and the College of Information Engineering. Through the coordination of general education and professional education, the new engineering general education curriculum system is built, and the integration of general education and professional education is gradually realized, so that students not only have various professional skills of engineering students, At the same time, the engineering students should be trained to understand interdisciplinary knowledge such as management, economics, sociology, etc., be able to have good communication and team cooperation ability, have critical thinking and innovative thinking, can conduct self-management and develop the habit of lifelong learning, and become people with a positive attitude and perseverance.
It is understood that, in addition to the construction of the subject of "construction of the new engineering general education curriculum system", our school of general education has been working hard to build an applied university general education road that meets the Eurasian talent training goal since its establishment in 2012. Through years of exploration and practice, the College of General Education has clarified the relationship between general education and professional education, and put forward its own talent training objectives and training programs. At the same time, in order to achieve the talent training objectives of the secondary branches in Europe and Asia, the College of General Education has put forward the curriculum construction plan of general education of basic courses and general education of professional courses.
With China's social and economic transformation, the realization of national strategy and the rapid development of the new economy, new engineering talents are urgently needed. The construction of "new engineering" with the background of new economy and new industry has put forward new requirements for the reform of engineering education and personnel training in colleges and universities. How to cultivate high-quality and compound "new engineering" talents with strong engineering practice ability, innovation ability and international competitiveness, which are required by the future society, is a problem that needs urgent attention and research.
