College introduction

Algonquin College was established in 1967. As one of the largest public colleges in Canada, Algonquin College ranks in the top five among more than 150 colleges in Canada, with a total of 175 majors. The college has the right to issue postgraduate certificates, bachelor's degrees in applied arts, and college diplomas with the approval of the state.

Algonquin College is the only comprehensive national college of higher education in the Ottawa region with courses taught in English. The dean of the college is appointed by the central government, and the college has the right to issue postgraduate certificates, bachelor's degrees and college diplomas in applies arts, and industry qualification certificates. The college has ten schools, including School of Advanced Technology, School of Business, School of Media and Design, School of Health and Community Studies, School of Police and Public Safety, School of Transportation and Architecture, School of Hospitality and Tourism, Heritage Institute, School of Languages, and Academic Access Center. Canada allocates more than 170 million Canadian dollars for office affairs and research every year.

As one of the largest of its kind in Canada, Algonquin College has been rated as the number one national college for student satisfaction for many years. The key to employment upon graduation: Each course at Algonquin College is taught by government and industry representatives (who act as employers) and professors, and guided by an academic committee composed of students. This close-knit academic committee, which consists of teaching departments, employers and students, develops syllabuses based on the needs of the market and employers, evaluates their teaching results every year, and adjusts teaching and learning modes according to market changes at any time, so as to ensure that students can indeed obtain the knowledge and skills that the market needs. This feature, with government and industry as the support, ensures a high employment rate for students.

School enrollments:Algonquin College now has 58,000 students, of which 18,000 are full-time registered students, 40,000 part-time students, and 1,200 international students with 220 from China. There are more than 2,700 full-time and part-time professors and lecturers.
