It was formerly known as Cariboo College, founded based on some mergers in the 1970s, and then upgraded to University College of Cariboo in 1989. Its undergraduate education is recognized by students and the educational community, and is highly recognized by the government of British Columbia and the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, so it obtained the present name in 2005. It offers more than 100 academic and professional courses, and currently has more than 10,000 students, including more than 800 international students from 53 countries and regions.

The campus is well equipped with facilities, such as the Olympic-level swimming pools and recreational facilities, gymnasiums (fitness institutions, squash, jai alai), theaters, libraries, computer institutions, healthcare rooms, and student activity institutions.
