College introduction

The UN-mandated University for Peace (UPEACE) was established in 1980 by General Assembly resolution 35/55. It is a global international organization dedicated to global governance. It is headquartered in San Jose, Costa Rica. In order to guarantee academic freedom, UPEACE is directly administered by its Board of Trustees, with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as Honorary President. UPEACE is the only university in the world authorized by the United Nations General Assembly to award master's and doctoral degrees. All degrees awarded are recognized by the International Association of Universities/UNESCO.
