In 2003, James Cook University established its first overseas campus in Singapore, which led to the establishment of James Cook University Singapore International Campus. The Singapore International Campus offers exactly the same courses as the main campus of James Cook University, and students studying at the Singapore International Campus can obtain the same quality education and rich university life. The campus is located in the city center and is easily accessible by both private and public transport. Community libraries, catering centers and convenience stores are all within walking distance. Dale Anderson, the President of James Cook University, is based at the Singapore International Campus and serves as the President of the Singapore International Campus, promoting and implementing a quality assurance system for teaching and learning at the parent university so that the James Cook University Singapore International Campus implements the same educational standards as the parent university, ensuring quality teaching and learning.

In terms of education, the Government of Australia and the Government of Singapore jointly recognized the international education model of James Cook University in Australia. JCU Singapore Campus officially became one of the local universities in Singapore and enjoyed the policy treatment of public universities in Singapore.
