Two Gold, One Silver, and Two Bronze Awards! Teachers and Students from the School of Culture & Media at Xi'an Eurasia University Achieve Excellent Results at 2024 BIAF!

The Busan International Art Festival (BIAF) serves as a platform and bridge for international cultural exchanges and mutual learning. On October 30, 2024, the BIAF grandly opened at the exhibition hall of Busan City Hall, with the theme of "Beautiful Future." On this passionate and creative stage, artists, creators, and art groups from 70 countries around the world gathered, and 1,122 works stood out.

The teachers and students in the Radio and TV Editing Program of the School of Culture & Media won two gold, one silver, and two bronze awards at the BIAF. Their works not only demonstrated their high-level skills in the professional field but also became shining representatives of traditional Chinese culture in the wave of cultural exports.

The 2024 BIAF consisted of 5 meticulously planned core sections, including the ICAF (International Contemporary Art Festival), the IGDC (International Graphics Design Competition), the ICAC (International Creative Art Competition), the IKCA (International Kids Creative Art Competition), and the ICAF (International Culture and Art Forum).

Gold Award Winner: "Light Travel"

AI-Powered Spiritual Exploration

"Light Travel" was adapted from the graduation speech of Professor Hu Jianbo, Founder of Xi'an Eurasia University, and was created with the help of AI. The work tells the story of a little boy on a fantastical dream journey, where he meets an ancient sage. Together, they witness the "good city-state" and the "bad city-state," and the boy comes to understand the essence of order and "doing one's duty." Eventually, he finds his own light in the ordinary. By combining AI technology with a profound story core, this work expands the possibilities of new-form film and TV creation. The perfect fusion of art and technology has caught the attention of international audiences.

Gold Award Winner: "Buyi Blossoms"

A Gorgeous Blend of Tradition and Modernity

"Buyi Blossoms" is a creative animated short film inspired by the culture of the Buyi ethnic group in Guizhou, China. The creators used novel, dynamic, and innovative strokes to carve out the traditional patterns of the Buyi people, showcasing the captivating charm of their dance and music. The film reflects the innovative thinking and cultural confidence displayed by the younger generation of Chinese artists on the stage of cultural exchange, opening a new window for Chinese culture to reach the world.

Silver Award Winner: "Conceal One's Identity"

A Deep Insight into the Realities of Human Nature

"Conceal One's Identity" is a realist short film inspired by a true story. The story tells of a father's struggle with human nature and self-redemption in his journey to save his daughter. The work reveals the complexity of human nature's good and evil, as well as the impact of online public opinion on contemporary people. The keen capture and profound interpretation of realistic subjects demonstrate the high level of attention to social phenomena and sense of responsibility of the students majoring in Radio and TV Editing.

Bronze Award Winner: "The Gaze of the Gods"

A New Chapter of Mythology Blending Ancient and Modern Elements

"The Gaze of the Gods" is a short film meticulously crafted using AIGC technology. Inspired by ancient Greek mythology, it showcases the grandeur of gods such as Zeus, Hera, Apollo, and Aphrodite through modern technological means. This work not only achieves the integration of ancient legends with contemporary art forms but also represents an attempt to combine traditional wisdom with technological innovation.

Bronze Award Winner: "Have A Bowl of Steamed Buns"

An Imagery Witness of China-ROK Friendship

"Have A Bowl of Steamed Buns" tells the story of a Chinese girl returning to her hometown and a Korean girl visiting Xi'an who happen to meet in a steamed bun restaurant. Through this ordinary-life story, the work reflects the different cultures of China and ROK, aiming to promote cultural exchange and understanding between the two countries and showcase the amiability and inclusiveness of Chinese culture on the international stage.

The brilliant achievements of the Radio and TV Editing Program students from the School of Culture & Media at this art festival are not only the results of the students' personal talents and efforts but also a vivid reflection of the results of internationalized education in the program. The school adheres to a teaching philosophy that emphasizes both innovation and practice, committed to cultivating students' innovative qualities, sense of responsibility, practical skills, as well as their global and international perspectives. While maintaining the foundation of traditional education, it actively explores diverse class formats, deeply integrating theory with practice. This enables students to refine their skills and enhance their comprehensive qualities through rich practical experiences.

"One's original aspiration does not fade with age; the spirit of struggle remains as vibrant as that of a young person." The Radio and TV Editing Program at the School of Culture & Media will continue to forge ahead, constantly exploring on the international path. It will contribute more to promoting cultural exchanges overseas. Amid the impact and integration brought by cross-cultural communication, it will cultivate students' ability to maintain a diverse perspective in their creations. With a global vision, students will be able to better use technological means to tell Chinese stories and convey Chinese voices through their works, allowing Chinese culture to shine more brilliantly on the world stage. We look forward to more students thriving in this vibrant and creative environment. With their dreams as their steeds, they will write their own glorious chapters, collectively forming a dazzling constellation that illuminates the future of the media industry.
