The School of Culture & Media (SCM) is based on the Journalism Department of the College of Humanities founded in 2000. SCM is an early-established and prominently-developed second-class school of Xi'an Eurasia University. At present, SCM has formed its own mode and brand in the applicational communication talents training. SCM's training orientation has been extended from the traditional training for news organizations to a wider field of applicational communication. Under the concept of mass communication and mass publishing, SCM determines the talent training program closely around the market demand and industry development. SCM also adheres to the concept of communication for application and teaching towards practice, taking training applied talents as the goal, taking practical teaching as the characteristic, and making its way in serving the local economic and cultural construction.
Our school running features are to highlight practical teaching and cultivate applied talents. That means while imparting theoretical knowledge, SCM focuses on cultivating students' general ability and practical operation abilities. 50% of the class hours are used for practical teaching. SCM effectively improves students' practical ability and comprehensive quality through various ways and methods such as docking with industry programs, real-world communication and operation, summer short-term practice, graduation design creation, social practice base operation, and interactive teaching participation.
Such applicational communication and practical teaching mode and student-centered educational concept coincided with the Missouri method, which is famous in the world's journalism and education circle. SCM's teaching mode has been successively reported by mainstream media such as People's Daily, China Youth Daily, Phoenix Network, China DAILY, Chinese Business View, China Radio and Television Network, Xi'an Evening News, Sanqin Metropolis Daily, Shaanxi TV Station, Xi'an TV Station. It has been reprinted in large numbers by Sina, Sohu, NetEase Tencent, and other portal websites and highly praised by academia, industry, and employers.
