Today marks the 40th Teachers' Day. When we shift our attention from the podium back to the 'teacher' in the slowly blossoming garden of Xi'an Eurasia University, we see not only their involvement in numerous outdoor rescues in the Qinling Mountains but also voices that resonate with tens of thousands of women on social media platforms. Some freely express themselves on the basketball court, while others walk alongside art, making dance and creation become sources of daily inspiration.
They choose to immerse themselves in the vibrant throes of life, where those fulfilling moments become nourishment for the soul, continually feeding their belief in "education". 6 teachers/faculty members from different fields will share their stories of self-exploration and diversified growth with you.
Yang Xuxin, full of vitality at all times, has been a teacher for 13 years.
"I enjoy listening to what the post-2000s generation cares about, likes, and follows. I approach these topics from their perspective, integrating current social issues with educational theories to foster their ability to think independently." Yang Xuxin's teaching style involves applying education to real-life scenarios by blending discussions of hot social topics with theory in her class.
Yang Xuxin also has her tricks for the more boring accounting courses. As a devoted fan of murder mystery games, she has incorporated "detective mode" into her teaching approach. By setting up scenarios in the classroom, assigning different roles during group activities, and strategically revealing key information to create suspense, she engages students in a deeply immersive learning experience. This method not only motivates students to take initiative but also results in highly enthusiastic classroom participation. Yang feels a deep sense of satisfaction and pride from seeing her students' positive reactions.
Yang Xuxin has been passionate about teaching for ten years. She has successfully coached students in various finance and accounting competitions, including fiscal and taxation skills competitions, information technology skills competitions, and enterprise strategy simulation contests, winning over ten awards at provincial and ministerial levels. She has also mentored students in innovation and entrepreneurship training programs, earning recognition for multiple national and provincial projects. She has published five core papers and led more than ten research projects. Her case studies Luckin Coffee: Not Just a Flash in the Pan and Chayan Yuese: Standing Out in the New Wave of Tea Drinks have been included in the "China Business Management International Case Database" of CEIBS. Additionally, the Financial Information Tools and Applications course she developed has been recognized as a provincial-level first-class course blending online and offline teaching models.
Outside the classroom, Yang Xuxin is also full of vitality. She enjoys all kinds of outdoor sports including traveling, climbing and hiking. "On weekends, I get close to nature. When I return to work, I will be more passionate and resonate with students." Breathing in the mountains and fields has become an effective way for her to recharge herself after school. The positive lifestyle has constantly empowered her teaching. She always shares her life experiences with students, "Acknowledge and embrace who you are. I hope all my students can fully enjoy their university life."
This is the eighth year that Zhang Ning has come to Xi'an Eurasia University. However, in his new role as head in charge of the major of Environmental Design at EAaD School, he humbly says "There is still a lot to learn". Over the past decade, Zhang Ning has taken on dual roles at the University, both teaching professional courses and engaging in exhibitions and industry-academic-research collaborations. He takes an active part in the Annual EAaD Graduation Exhibition, various art exhibitions, and professional events.
His interdisciplinary experience broadens his educational perspective. In his Design and Life course, he poses the first question to his students: "Have you ever observed your own body?" "Do you really know the dimensions of your own body?" Through their own observations, students can uncover differences in physical dimensions and inner emotions. "Measuring a space using physical and emotional dimensions" is the first lesson they learn firsthand.
Through his teaching experiences, Zhang Ning can fully observe and enjoy his life. In his spare time, he likes to walk along the old streets of Xi'an and feel the unique human atmosphere here. "The bustling agri-product markets, the foam used by old women to grow flowers on the street, and paper-cut window decorations cast from alley windows... I will pay attention to the things that are easily overlooked."
In every corner of life, he constantly records his observations. Sometimes it's the thoughtful expressions of assistant students gazing at their computers, other times, it's a morning cup of coffee. "These are random snippets of daily life, sketched casually and saved as materials." These unique moments belong to Mr. Zhang Ning. However, under his influence, students also have learned to record their lives.
Not long ago, a graduate recently called him to share that he was now working as a design planner at a homestay in Ankang. "We discussed the planning schemes together. He reminisced about our times working together on brand planning and event design, and our imaginative chats in the office. Those experiences inspired him to enter this industry and opened up new career paths." For Mr. Zhang Ning, this was the perfect end-of-summer gift.
The coexistence of environment and people is the professional belief that Luo Wei has adhered to since starting her master's degree studies. "If you ask me what a fascinating university is, Xi'an Eurasia University will be my standard answer. I want to do something valuable in a university like this." In 2019, Luo Wei, who just graduated with a master's degree, went to Xi'an Eurasia University with aspirations of becoming an excellent teacher.
Luo is now the director of the bilingual course Engineering Simulation, which was inspired by her master's degree in Hong Kong and prepared for juniors. She introduced course transformations to Xi'an Eurasia University, led project-based teaching in the West A Building, and conducted research on how to improve the daily learning and living spaces for teachers and students by utilizing real enterprise projects and focusing on microclimate studies.
The whole course is divided into four modules, and each module corresponds to a real enterprise project. When Luo Wei led students to participate in real enterprise projects, Building A of the Teaching Building in the west part of the campus became their practice base. Students use various handheld devices to measure and gather outdoor meteorological data from different activity spaces on campus, as well as human comfort levels and physiological parameters such as blood pressure, blood oxygen saturation level, and heart rate in various environments. They set up different observation points in Building A of the Teaching Building in the west part of the campus. Entering the building, you will know the microclimate parameters of the current location.
Up to now, Luo Wei has published a total of 7 research papers, including 1 SCI Zone I TOP journal, 2 core scientific and technological papers, and 4 EI conferences. In terms of competitions and awards, she led and guided her students to win many national intelligent construction awards, and trained 19 students with the Intelligent Constructor (Level III) Industry Certificate.
Outside the classroom, Luo Wei is a dancer.
Luo began to learn dance in 2014 and has never given up since. Dance has played multiple roles in her life. "At university, I was a member of the dance club. Dancing is a useful way to recharge after work. Whenever I feel down or stressed out, dancing is the best way to relieve my passive emotions and pressure." In the crisscross of light and shadow, Luo Wei feels "the vigorous sense of life, from the heart involuntarily burst out a lot of power."
As a teacher, Luo Wei has a firm passion for her career, and her love for dancing starts a new chapter in her life. She always regards work as a part of her life, "I hope to work happily and live happily. In the face of love, spare no effort to live." The important thing in life is never what kind of road you have taken, but what kind of lifestyle you have chosen.
As one of the new "green peppers" who joined in January this year, Liang Xiaoyu has always been longing to become a teacher. "My life motto is 'To attain wisdom, it is not enough merely to read books, you must be well-traveled as well'. An undergraduate majoring in sociology, she eventually became a flight attendant. After more than two years, I have seen a wider world. The idea of improving myself is constantly growing in my heart."
After working in the airline for two years, Liang Xiaoyu began to actively prepare for the postgraduate examination. "The idea of becoming a teacher is getting stronger and stronger." After graduation, she joined in Xi'an Eurasia University as she wished and is currently teaching at the School of Marxism where she teaches the course Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought and Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics. As a new teacher at the School of Marxism, Liang Xiaoyu believes that "ideological and political courses should include not only 'political education' but also 'thinking training'." Therefore, she combines social news, anecdotes, and theory to support the importance of the course with practical cases as the starting point.
Outside the classroom, Liang Xiaoyu is a well-known blogger.
In her daily notes, she shares her growth story with others and shows the transformation of her career in the form of short videos. She often discusses topics related to women's power and growth, providing advice for some girls who are in trouble or feel confused about life from the four dimensions of study, career, interview and life. Vlogs as part of notes show her disciplined life. "I have been a blogger since 2019. Discussing life's direction and the power of growth with many girls my age has become an indispensable part of my life,"
"The teaching profession allows me to live a self-disciplined life, which helps me become more energetic in my work and brings more positive energy to students. Just like the longtermism believed by Xi'an Eurasia University, I think that long-term persistence can also inspire my students to study hard and live a healthy life."
Life is a long-distance journey, and along the way will approach many good things to achieve self-empowerment. For Ms. Chen Xingxing, a youth community instructor at Queen's land, many cheering moments in her life stem from the sport of "basketball", which she never stops for many years. Even with her busy student administration jobs, she squeezes in time to go to the basketball court every week.
"Playing basketball isn't just about sweating; it's also about communicating and cooperating with teammates." On the court, she is a "point guard" who controls the game, scheduling, organizing, and constantly creating scoring opportunities. Off the court, she is "Teacher Chen," who has memorized the names of over four hundred students. The dopamine released during exercise carries over from the basketball court to her work, and she fully enjoys the sport and replenishes her energy for life.
Seizing every opportunity is her firm belief on the field and also a life philosophy she actively practices. Last year, Chen Xingxing participated in the class meeting design competition organized by the University and won second prize. This year, with more experience and better preparation, she participated in the competition again and, together with the students from Queens' land, won the first prize.
Chen Xingxing believes that this is a positive influence brought by the cultural atmosphere of Xi'an Eurasia Youth Community. "We have eight distinctive youth communities. The Queens' land gathers many talented and creative girls, who are regularly seen at the annual commendation ceremony. They also contribute many ideas to this competition."
In 2022, Chen Xingxing came to Xi'an Eurasia University. At that time, Xi'an was still a relatively strange city for her. After working and living in Xi'an Eurasia University for more than two years, she finds more possibilities in this city. "I especially like the delicious food in Xi'an, such as Roujiamo and Oil spill noodles... My favorite food is spicy oil and fried pepper!" As the saying she likes, "Every step you take counts." In many places, Chen Xingxing chooses to be brave and takes a step forward. Only those who dare to dream and do can have the possibility of success.
In August 2005, Zheng Weiquan joined Xi'an Eurasia University with his passion for the catering industry. He serves as the head chef and executive chef of Golden Bridge Restaurant. For decades, he has been managing and operating Golden Bridge Restaurant at Xi'an Eurasia University. Everyone affectionately calls him "Chef Zheng".
"Now, 20 years later, our restaurant provides safe and healthy food and a clean and tidy environment as usual. Whenever there is a high-standard reception, grand meetings, or large-scale staff training, Golden Bridge Restaurant is the best choice for school catering." Zheng Weiquan's tone was full of pride. As the campus has improved, Xi'an Eurasia University's catering service has become well-known in Northwest China. "I feel very happy that I can bring delicious food and warmth to the teachers and students every day. My sense of professional achievement and personal value have been fully recognized."
In addition to being responsible for his daily work, Zheng Weiquan also has another identity: a member of the Qinling Mountains Outdoor Rescue Team.
Qinling Mountains is a popular destination in China for people who want to play outdoor sports, but there are also many dangers. "Two years ago, when I went climbing the mountain, I heard from tourists that someone had difficulty breathing as soon as we reached the top of the mountain. It turned out to be an old man in his 50s who was short of breath, conscious but unable to move. I immediately took a video and sent it to the rescue team, and then organized tourists to call the police. Fortunately, one of the tourists is also a doctor. The old man got timely help." With a strong sense of responsibility, Zheng Weiquan who once enjoyed mountaineering activities joined the outdoor rescue team and decided to pass on his belief in guarding life.
On weekends and holidays, Zheng Weiquan will actively participate in every outdoor rescue in the Qinling Mountains. "Tourists and hikers often fall and get lost during their climbs. The police and firefighters will join us in mountain rescues. During the summer holiday, we also participate in water rescues in the Qinling Mountains. Additionally, we engage in 'mountain cleaning' public welfare activities regularly. Along with some of our school's teachers, I help pick up trash in the mountains to alleviate some of the workload for sanitation workers."
Nowadays, Zheng Weiquan has become a well-known leader of the logistics team in the Qinling Mountains rescue team, and his teammates also know that he works at Xi'an Eurasia University. After each rescue, he gave full play to his own working ability and cooked a hot meal for the members of the rescue team. He not only actively devotes himself to public welfare activities, but also leads a small group of teachers in the school to join in welfare activities and continues to make contributions to the rescue team outside the work. With his deep love for work and life, he contributes to the University and society at the same time.
"This sense of social responsibility and value gives me more courage and confidence to embrace life." Zheng Weiquan will continue to work hand in hand with Xi'an Eurasia University for development, continuously enhance his professional ability, and bring more delicious creative dishes to teachers and students. This is not only his happiness but also the happiness of Xi'an Eurasia University.
