Interview with HR Specialists — How to Be Versatile Talent Adapting to Market Demand? Enterprises Will Give the Answer

In the second issue of Xi'an Eurasia University's column "Interview with HR Specialists", two guests were interviewed. The enterprises they work for have deep cooperation with the university's School of Accounting and School of Finance and Data Science. They have been deeply involved in the auditing and finance sectors respectively for a long time, and have long-term contact with many students and graduates of Xi'an Eurasia University. Through their sharing, we could see the competitive advantages of students in Xi'an Eurasia University and help more students determine their future career orientation.

Established in December 1988 and headquartered in Beijing, Baker Tilly China Certified Public Accountants (Baker Tilly China) is a super-large comprehensive consulting institution focusing on audit verification, capital market services, consulting services, legal affairs and liquidation, and corporate valuation. It is one of the eight major accounting firms in China and ranks among the top ten large comprehensive consulting institutions in the world.

With the vigorous development of digitization and the advent of the era of artificial intelligence, Baker Tilly China also followed the trend of the times and established a digital intelligence operation center in July 2021. Ma Dou, who has worked in the firm for eleven years, has been transferred from the audit department to the operation center to be responsible for its trial operation and construction.

In 2023, Baker Tilly China and Xi'an Eurasia University established a good university-enterprise cooperation relationship. Ma stressed that the application-oriented characteristics of the audit industry are highly consistent with Xi'an Eurasia University's educational positioning of application-oriented undergraduate programs. "The audit industry is characterized by high explosive operation, while digital intelligence, as the middle office in the audit process, needs to serve the audit in a centralized manner." Therefore, the best way to help the enterprise develop steadily and improve the practical ability of students in Xi'an Eurasia University is to establish long-term university-enterprise cooperation with the university through a combination of work and learning and realize the deep integration of technology and talent.

"The cooperation with Xi'an Eurasia University is very smooth, which ensures the stable operation and smooth development of our business. The university has put forward standardized and professional requirements for the internship stage and results of students. During the internship, students can have a deep understanding of the operation mode of the enterprise. After the internship ends, we will provide comprehensive ability evaluation for the university according to the different characteristics of students. The university will also train students in a more targeted manner and tailor training programs for their later development." Ma Dou said that the outstanding characteristics of students from Xi'an Eurasia University include earnestness as well as strong senses of responsibility, discipline and teamwork: "Operation centers in the audit industry often face a large amount of data collection, with a tight schedule of tasks and high timeliness requirements. However, the students of Xi'an Eurasia University can work under high pressure and always adhere to a serious and responsible attitude until the last moment. Those who came here for internship never gave up halfway. Besides, after completing their own work, they would also actively help other teammates to complete their work, so as to ensure that the team's tasks meet the standards. Such professional quality and teamwork spirit in the workplace are very valuable."

"Some students of Xi'an Eurasia University successfully passed the assessment and joined us after this year's internship. We were attracted by their outstanding ability to think about problems, identify the core issues in the work procedures, and make responses accordingly. In terms of the expectations for graduates, Ma said: "The application of automation, software, tools and equipment is very important in the audit industry. The core competitive advantage lies in processing a large amount of data and outputting work results efficiently. Versatile professionals we really need in the future should be able to actively explore and improve working modes, and optimize and innovate work procedures."

Graduates are facing heavy employment pressure and enterprises urgently need "fresh blood". In order to strengthen the professional training of students and further clarify their employment orientation, the School of Finance and Data Science of Xi'an Eurasia University has established a deep cooperation relationship with Xi'an Branch of China Life Insurance Company Limited since 2012. At the same time, as an off-campus training base for the School of Finance and Data Science of Xi'an Eurasia University, China Life Insurance Company Limited has offered the best platform for students' transition from the university to the workplace. Every year, many graduates enter the banking and insurance department of China Life Insurance Company Limited to start their career in finance.

Founded in October 1949, China Life Insurance Company Limited is the largest commercial insurance group in China. It is committed to providing life insurance, annuity insurance, health insurance and accidental injury insurance products for individuals and groups, with a wide coverage of survival, endowment, illness, medical treatment, death and disability. As a deputy ministerial level central enterprise, it provides various life insurances for hundreds of millions of Chinese people and plays an important role in serving China's economic development and maintaining social stability.

Li Xuwen has been engaged in the finance industry for nine years. With the enhancement of people's awareness of insurance and wealth management in contemporary society, the role of the banking and insurance sector cannot be underestimated. On the basis of exploring the insurance needs of bank customers, the main work content of the banking and insurance sector is to put professional insurance and financial products into bank platforms, establish in-depth contact with banks and provide professional financial services for customers. "The work procedures of the banking and insurance sector are complicated and require strong communication skills and teamwork ability. Therefore, our talent cooperation with Xi'an Eurasia University has been very smooth," said Li Xuwen.

Li Xuwen believes that the biggest advantage of students from Xi'an Eurasia University lies in their endless innovative working ideas and novel concepts: "Unlike those who focus only on textbooks, students from Xi'an Eurasia University can always think differently from others in simple and repetitive tasks. Many of my colleagues are from Xi'an Eurasia University. In addition to strong basic and professional skills, they are especially good at community organization training."

"What impressed me most was the performance of a student from Xi'an Eurasia University who came for an internship in the first half of this year. In a financial activity we organized for our bank customers this year, he demonstrated great personal value during the theme formulation session. When we hold this type of large-scale events, we usually prioritize professionalism, boringly explaining the knowledge related to personal asset allocation to customers and giving various lectures. However, he joined the DIY handicraft activity and organized all participants to make round fans for adapting to the seasonal scene. The atmosphere on site was lively and interesting. It not only enhanced the deep interaction between the department and customers, but also provided customers with extremely high emotional value." Li Xuwen expressed full appreciation and recognition to the students of Xi'an Eurasia University in the interview. Later, that student also sorted out relevant materials, reviewed the activity, and shared it in enterprises across the city. While being unanimously praised by colleagues and leaders, the performance has also seen obvious increases.

"We will select and interview the students before the internship. First, the director of operations and professional lecturers will give a job presentation in the school. The students voluntarily sign up for it, and then come to the enterprise for an interview. After passing the three-month internship assessment, students who are willing to work with us will be admitted. The process of two-way determination is also very important."

As for the assessment criteria of graduates, Li Xuwen said: "In addition to basic professional knowledge, communication skills and teamwork ability are also very important in contemporary society. I hope everyone can shine on this land and fully display their competence and value."
