Introduction
The University of New South Wales (UNSW), founded in 1949, is a world-renowned top public research university [1]. Its main campus is located in Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, Australia, which serves as the financial, trade, and tourism center of the southern hemisphere. UNSW is a member of the Group of Eight, the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, the Global Alliance of Technological Universities, and Universitas 21.
UNSW currently comprises 9 faculties, 1 general faculty, and a total of 75 departments. Its Engineering and Business faculties are highly prestigious, with outstanding strengths in engineering and computer science. The university is also known as the "Academy of War Studies" due to its Defence Research Institute.
The UNSW Engineering Faculty is the largest engineering institute in Australia. In 2015, 22 of its researchers and alumni were included in the annual list of the top 100 most influential engineers in Australia [2]. The faculty houses a Centre for Quantum Computing & Communication Technology and Australia's largest power electronic and drives research laboratory. It has participated in the development of the world's first pure silicon quantum computer chip [3], the world's most efficient photovoltaic solar cell in 2014, and, in 2017, the Australian Centre for Space Engineering Research built the country's first EC0 satellite based on these achievements.
In 2016, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China signed a cooperation agreement with UNSW, marking that China and Australia would jointly establish the Torch Innovation Park on campus to promote collaboration in high-tech fields such as energy technology and advanced materials.
