
Introduction
Vancouver Island University, established in 1936, is a public university. It is situated in the picturesque city of Nanaimo on the world-famous Vancouver Island, a renowned scenic area. The city is just a 90-minute drive from the provincial capital, Victoria, and only a 15-minute flight from Vancouver. The university adopts small class teaching and is composed of several faculties, including the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Management, the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Science and Technology, the Faculty of Health Sciences and Human Services, the Indigenous/Xwulmuxw Studies, the Faculty of Trades and Applied Technology, and the ELL Learning Centre. It offers more than 120 courses in total and can confer master's degrees, bachelor's degrees, university diplomas, university preparatory qualifications, certificates, and other academic credentials.
