Introduction

The University of East Asia (UEA) is a private university located in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, founded in 1966. It has three faculties: the Faculty of Human Science, the Faculty of Health Care, and the Faculty of Art & Design, as well as the Comprehensive Academic Research Institute (Graduate School). UEA is the first university in Japan to offer beauty-related programs. Students in the Faculty of Art & Design can obtain a nationally recognized beautician qualification by completing the required courses. Students of other faculties also have the opportunity to earn nationally recognized qualifications such as kindergarten, elementary, and middle school teaching certificates, as well as certifications for nutritionists, emergency medical technicians, and clinical psychologists.
