Video of the Opening Ceremony

Integrating "sea, land and air" elements, the international opening ceremony performance was widely praised. There were 38 events, involving both fierce speed competitions and joyful and interesting sport experience. From April 20 to 21, 2023, the 19th Sports Games of Xi'an Eurasia University in 2023 was held. It has been two years since the last session. More than 20,000 teachers and students witnessed and participated in this grand sports carnival.

On the morning of April 20, the Opening Ceremony of the 19th Sports Games of Xi'an Eurasia University in 2023 was held in the stadium. More than 5,000 people participated, including Party and government leaders of the university, heads of its schools and functional departments, and representatives of teachers and students from youth communities. School leader Zhang Junhong presided over the Opening Ceremony, which received about 70,000 views through the university's official accounts on Douyin, Sina Weibo, Channel and other platforms.

At about 8.30 a.m., the national, university and sports games flags were escorted by 12 flag-bearers to the stadium. Subsequently, 15 characteristic groups marched in one by one, presenting a colorful campus culture. The referee team consists of 23 teachers from the sports center of the School of General Education and 106 students majoring in Sports Economics and Management from the School of Business Administration. The athlete team is composed of athletes who competed in the 17th Games of Shaanxi Province on behalf of Xi'an Eurasia University in 2022. The university's men's basketball team won the championship in the Group A of college students, and the women's basketball team and badminton team also achieved excellent results. They are the best spokesmen of the sportsmanship of the university. The remaining 12 groups, consisting of eight youth communities, four interest clubs, baseball and softball clubs and 77 staff's families, also presented many highlights: "The Longest Day in Chang'an" performed by the Confucius Youth Community, the joyful "Egg Party" performed by the Ivy Youth Community, the "Johari Window—Communication Management" tool displayed by the Drucker Youth Community, and the lively tap dance staged by the International Youth Community. Every year, the most popular group is the parents and their adorable children. When they enter the stadium, the crowds often burst into cheers.

After all the groups entered the stadium, all people present stood up and sang the national anthem. Subsequently, Chairman Hu Jianbo delivered an opening speech. He pointed out that sports have become a feature of the education model of Xi'an Eurasia University. Its men's basketball team won the championship of the 2nd level league in the 2022 College Basketball League in Shaanxi Province and CUBAL preliminaries, which cannot be separated from four keywords, namely faith, action, persistence and transcendence. Chairman Hu hopes that all students will bear in mind the four words and choose a sport as a long-term hobby to slowly experience the hope, power and joy brought by faith, action, persistence and transcendence. According to Hu, the university's skateboarding square is under construction. The construction of the new swimming pool and gymnasium will also start this year. In the future, Xi'an Eurasia University will continue to build more characteristic sports facilities and venues to provide a better sports environment for students, so that they can love and enjoy sports and adopt a positive and confident attitude towards life through sports.

Ma Fulan and Zhang Zhilin took the oath on behalf of athletes and referees respectively. The Running Club of Xi'an Eurasia University, with the belief of "pursuing dreams for a better future", is composed of 14 teachers and students. They passed the golden key on the jogging trail, not only inheriting the original aspiration but also conveying the beauty of education. When Liu Qing, head coach of the men's basketball team of the university, reached the finish line in front of the rostrum, Secretary of the CPC Committee Yu Mengchen announced the opening of the 19th Sports Games of Xi'an Eurasia University in 2023. Suddenly, colorful "flames" were growing higher and higher, and 300 pigeons carrying students' dreams and expectations for the future spread their wings and flew up.

At the end of the Opening Ceremony, several sports clubs and youth communities staged lively gymnastic performances, under such themes as "Fishes Jumping over the Ocean", "Galloping Cars", "Light and Shadow", and "Space Voyage". The four performances interpret sports, youth, diversity and internationality respectively. The "Sports Time" unit features the speed and passion of the youth from Xi'an Eurasia University. As the chequered flags were waved, the roar of racing cars died away. In the "Sea World" unit, elegant girls in long blue dresses look like flowing seawater and the floating balloons in their hands like waves. They were singing while strolling in the "dreamy ocean", showing the strength of women in sports. In an atmosphere full of liveliness and vigor, the "Light and Shadow" unit shows the power of youth. There were both "fashionable sports" and "regular sports", including sports dance, cheerleading dance, rugby, cycling, roller skating and skateboarding. In the last unit of "Roaming Among Stars", "astronauts" traveled across the sea of stars and walked in space. The romance belonging to Xi'an Eurasia University will guide the students on the journey ahead.

From April 20 to 21, the competitions were divided into two parts respectively for faculty members and students. The faculty members from the same functional department or school formed a team, and the student from the same youth community competed as a team. In both fierce competitions (including 100-meter races, relay races, long jump and shot put) and joyful experience (under such themes as Torrent of Steel, The Tortoise and the Hare and Wandering Earth), participants cooperated with each other amid shouts and cheers. After two days of intense competition, all of the 41 groups of competitions of the sports games were successfully completed. The School of Higher Vocational Education, Xdea Youth Community and Drucker Youth Community won the top three in the total scores of men's groups, while the Queens' Land Youth Community, Confucius Youth Community and Xdea Youth Community won the top three in the total scores of women's groups.
