Design is one of the basic driving forces for contemporary urban development. On July 6, 2023, the Launching Ceremony of the 7th Yanta Graduation and Entrepreneurship Season & “‘Art’ to the Future” Joint Exhibition of Xi’an College Graduation Works was held in Xiying Film Park. The event was co-hosted by the Xi’an Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, the Xi’an Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the Xi’an Municipal Bureau of Investment Cooperation, the CPC Yanta District Committee, and the People’s Government of Yanta District.

As one of the important components of this launching ceremony, the brilliant launch of the “‘Art’ to the Future” Joint Exhibition of Xi’an College Graduation Works was witnessed by government leaders, enterprise guests, university teachers, and the public. At the same time, Xi’an Eurasia University also reached school-government and school-enterprise cooperation agreements with the People’s Government of Yanta District and JD Logistics Shaanxi Branch respectively. The joint exhibition not only allows our open education to develop in new directions but also introduces new-generation design forces that can contribute to Xi’an’s endeavor of building a “design capital” with “art”!

At the launching ceremony, Nie Hu, Deputy Mayor of Yanta District, Xi’an City, delivered a speech on topics such as “establishing a modern industrial system with culture-tourism integration and high-quality development”, “activating the connotation of cultural tourism in Yanta District”, “promoting the deep integration of culture, business, and tourism”, “creating urban cultural IPs”, and “actively promoting the tripartite cooperation between government agencies, schools, and enterprises”. Guo Jun, Deputy Mayor of Yanta District, Xi’an City, introduced the three major parts and eight specific activities of the 7th Yanta Graduation and Entrepreneurship Season. Gong Shanshan, a teacher representative of the joint exhibition and Vice Dean of the School of Arts and Design of Xi’an University, said, “This exhibition is not only a cultural event for inter-university exchange and learning but also an important way to promote the transformation of the teaching achievements of universities and the new development of urban cultural and creative industries. It is also an effective effort to consolidate and strengthen the reputation of Xi’an as a design capital.”

Yanta District has abundant scientific and educational resources. In order to accelerate the implementation of innovation-driven development strategy and deepen regional industry-university-research collaborative innovation, at the launching ceremony, the People’s Government of Yanta District signed government-school cooperation agreements with Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts and Xi’an Eurasia University, while Xi’an Eurasia University signed a school-enterprise agreement with JD Logistics Shaanxi Branch, giving full play to the advantageous resources of schools and localities, fostering in-depth government-university-enterprise cooperation, vigorously promoting collaborative education and industry-university-research cooperation and accelerating the formation of a new pattern of school-locality integrated development.

They affirmed the circular development path features urban renewal empowered by designs, artistic future development of the city, and the mutual promotion between art design and urban development.

As an important feature of modern universities, “openness” is not only the basic law and trend of higher education development but also the inevitable choice for university connotation construction. For many years, Xi’an Eurasia University has been committed to open education. Through industry-academia research, social services, university-enterprise collaborations, and hosting various public cultural activities, the university has continuously promoted the integration and coexistence of itself with industries, sectors, regions, and cities, creating value in the process. The opening of this joint exhibition will serve as an important step for the university in empowering urban development with design resources and further establishing a new pattern of collaboration between the university and the local community. It will mark the beginning of a new chapter in our university’s commitment to open education.

“‘Art’ to the Future” 2023 Joint Exhibition of Xi’an College Graduation Works leverages the urban landmarks in Xi’an, such as the Xiying Film Park and the Xi’an metro space, breaking down the boundaries between art and daily life. On the opening day, the creative expressions of social elements by new-generation designers attracted numerous visitors and tourists, providing an immersive experience of urban design culture.

Xi’an Film Park inherits and develops the film culture of West China and is committed to meeting the cultural needs of the city, promoting organic urban renewal, and fulfilling the needs of the people for a brilliant spiritual life. Based on this standpoint, the Xi’an Film Park Exhibition Area has set up a number of theme units such as urban life, Shaanxi dialect, and trendy creative illustration units. The exhibition not only revitalizes the cultural style of the city but also promotes the interaction between visual works and the city, empowering the film park while enriching the cultural connotation of the city.

Focusing on Shaanxi’s rich cultural and historical resources, the Metro Exhibition Area covers three stations: Zhonglou Station/Dayanta Station/Xingzhengzhongxin Station and encompasses four exhibition themes including the natural environment, urban landscape, Shaanxi dialect, and sports & fashion, conveying the diverse cultural essence and urban landscape of Shaanxi to more citizens and tourists. This transmission even extends beyond the city.

In the Metro Exhibition Area, exhibited works integrate various art forms such as visual art, technology, and sound visualization. In addition to providing the public with a visual experience, the exhibition also displays interactive devices that bring an immersive artistic experience from another perspective to the audience in addition to visual memory.
