Dear teachers, students, and parents:

Good morning!

Today, we are holding a grand opening ceremony for freshmen enrolled in 2023, witnessing the beginning of university life for 5,967 new students. Here, on behalf of the CPC committee and administrative leaders of the university as well as all faculty and students of the university, I would like to extend the warmest welcome and heartfelt congratulations to all new students!

Among the four seasons of a year, autumn is the most beautiful one for Xi'an Eurasia University. This is not only because autumn has the most gorgeous colors but also because the arrival of students brings new vitality into the campus. The opening ceremony every year is the most important moment for Xi'an Eurasia University. Every effort and preparation we have made for this moment is to welcome you.

Choose a New Way of Learning

We advocate a "student-centered" education and teaching concept, pay attention to the lifelong development needs of each student, and focus on the learning experiences, development, and learning effects of students.

As early as 2010, we established the Centre for Teaching Excellence jointly with Duquesne University and carried out five-year "student-centered" teaching paradigm training to help teachers establish a brand-new education and teaching concept. Since then, the in-class teaching of Xi'an Eurasia University has undergone a fundamental change. The application of various teaching forms such as case teaching, situational teaching, project-based teaching, and blended teaching has helped students effectively participate in learning, project practice, and academic competition. Over the years, the students of Xi'an Eurasia University have won many successes in national competitions such as China College Students' "Internet +" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, "Challenge Cup" Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition and Entrepreneurship Plan Competition for College Students, and National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition.

After years of practice and exploration, Xi'an Eurasia University has formed a talent training platform led by business education and integrating multiple disciplines such as media, new engineering, and humanities and education. It has established a new teaching model encompasses "major integration, famous teachers, real cases, simulation projects, industry frontiers, and digital resources". At Xi'an Eurasia University, you will have a unique learning experience.

We will also provide you with abundant international educational resources. We have established Sino-foreign cooperative education programs with Middle Tennessee State University and signed cooperation agreements with 53 well-known universities in 17 countries or regions, such as Ball State University and Wayne State University in the United States, Coventry University and Cardiff University in the United Kingdom, and the University of South Australia in Australia. Through inter-school faculty sharing, credit mutual recognition, and student exchange programs, you will be able to receive high-quality international education on campus or overseas.

We aim to fully stimulate your interest in learning through brand-new course experiences and rich international resources and encourage you to take on different learning challenges. I hope you will rethink the meaning of learning in the process, acquire new learning skills, and shape new learning habits. Hopefully, such changes will benefit you throughout your life.

Choose a New Lifestyle

After entering the university, you need to establish correct values and learn to study, cooperate with others, and live together in communities and associations.

In 2013, the university began to explore and promote the reform of the student community system. It has successively established eight distinctive youth communities such as Ivy, Xdea and Drucker. Taking cultural education as the carrier, we have built an all-round and whole-process educational atmosphere and environment, broadened the communication channels between teachers and students, and promoted the overall development of students. In June this year, we put forward the shared community values of "cleanliness", "friendliness", "health" and "self-discipline" to help students further develop good living habits.

At present, the school has more than 80 student associations and more than 30 sports clubs. The student associations have successively won first prize at the National University Art Exhibition and Performance Event, first prize at the National College Student Campus Art Festival, and national excellent drama awards at the China Campus Drama Festival and the Golden Hedgehog College Student Drama Festival. The sports clubs have won the championship of the College Student Group at the 17th Games of Shaanxi Province, the runner-up at the Badminton Competition for College Students of Shaanxi Province, and the dance competition group champion. The wonderful community, association, and club activities have enriched the university life of students and set up a stage for everyone to show their personality and demeanor.

The colorful campus life is inseparable from a beautiful and pleasant campus environment. What I want to share with you is that the spatial design and convenient services of Xi'an Eurasia University embody the educational essence of the university. For example, Hongqiao Student Center is an "internet-famous place" for teachers and students. It integrates catering, learning, visitor reception, and leisure. The compound multifunctional design lets students study and communicate naturally. The university also has a number of informal learning spaces distributed in the public areas of each building, which can meet the needs of diversified scenarios such as group sharing and individual learning. When you are studying or relaxing, through the French windows of each building, you will feel the shading sunlight and changing seasons. Behind these wonderful experiences lies the university's respect for people and their pursuit of beauty.

We believe that high-quality life and rich campus cultural activities are part of quality education. If you can discover and appreciate the unique beauty of Eurasia and incorporate that beauty into your future life, it would be something we would most hope to see.

Professor Hu Jianbo, Founder and Chairman of the university, mentioned in his graduation speech to the Class of 2017: "Xi'an Eurasia University provides a good campus environment and excellent teachers and allows art to touch the soul, science to illuminate thinking, and sports to accompany growth. We aim to awaken the innate abilities within each individual and let you grow into your true selves."

At Xi'an Eurasia University, we hope that "student-centered" teaching and learning will stimulate your potential for independent learning, cooperative learning, and inquiry learning; At Xi'an Eurasia University, international educational resources will help you broaden your horizons and communicate with the world; At Xi'an Eurasia University, the campus culture of "pluralitas in unitatem" will create unlimited possibilities for students' development.

Liu Xu and Wang Bin from the EAaD School are known as "Gemini Stars". Their graduation design work "Unforgettable Yongan — Digital Restoration of Daming Palace and Metaverse Design" has won the praise of industry experts. This year, they entered Tongji Architectural Design (Group) Co., Ltd., just as they had hoped. Wang Bin said, "Xi'an Eurasia University has amplified my passion for life and learning. I have developed aesthetic awareness, a new way of thinking, skills in architectural space design, and a lifelong learning ability during my time at Xi'an Eurasia University. I am truly grateful to the university for providing this vast platform, which has allowed me to gain a more comprehensive understanding of myself."

Yang Kexin from the School of Culture & Media was admitted to Northwest University's graduate program in journalism and communication this year. Yang Kexin said, "Xi'an Eurasia University fits perfectly into my imagination of a university. After studying and living here for four years, I feel fortunate to have made the right choice at the beginning. Here, I learned cutting-edge professional knowledge and experienced colorful campus activities, high-level academic lectures, high-level design exhibitions, high-quality concerts, etc. I had unlimited opportunities to continuously explore my potential and feel the charm of university culture."

Zhang Yining from the School of Business Administration has also received offers from six internationally renowned universities, including the University of Leeds, the University of Nottingham, the University of Newcastle, and Cardiff University in the United Kingdom as well as the University of Sydney and the University of Queensland in Australia. In July this year, Zhang Yining entered the University of Queensland which ranks 50th in the QS World University Rankings 2023 for further study. Looking back on the four-year university experience, Zhang Yining said: "At Xi'an Eurasia University, the guidance of teachers, project practice, and cooperation among students have all helped me overcome difficulties and challenges, become the best I can be, explore a wider world, and realize the university's golden saying that I liked since I entered the university, 'Start here, go anywhere'."

The above-mentioned students are just the representatives of many graduates this year. After 28 years of development, 143,000 alumni have contributed their wisdom in all walks of life. In the process of talent cultivation, Xi'an Eurasia University has always paid attention to "cultivating virtue, innovative spirit, international vision, independent thinking, and strong practical ability", which will support students to walk more firmly and calmly on the road to realizing their dreams. This is the power of education, and it is also the power of Xi'an Eurasia University.

Conclusion

In his 2023 New Year's greeting, General Secretary Xi Jinping said: "Going forward, China will be a country that has great expectations of its younger generation. A nation will prosper only when its young people thrive. For China to develop further, our young people must step forward and take on their responsibilities. Youth is full of vigor and is a source of hope. Youngsters should keep their country in mind, cultivate keen enterprise, and live youth to the fullest with great drive, to prove worthy of the times and the splendor of youth."

General Secretary Xi Jinping's message encourages the youth to actively embrace the new era, embark on a new journey, and become individuals with dreams, responsibilities, and a sense of duty. It calls upon them to shoulder the mission of the times, illuminating their youth and ideals along the way!
