Dear students and teachers,

Good morning!

Today is the 19th Spring Sports Day of Xi'an Eurasia University. Sports Day this year is different because it is no longer an annual competition-centered event with the participation of a small number of students, but an event for each community, club, and student to show their individuality and talent.

Last month, the men's basketball team from Xi'an Eurasia University won the championship of the CUBAL preliminary second-level league, breaking the monopoly of famous universities on the men's basketball championship. After the match, I asked coach Liu Qing what he thought about winning the championship. He said that thanks to the curriculum reform and sports club system, a number of outstanding clubs have emerged, such as the Journey Cycling Club, Dance Sport Club, Fitness Club, etc. These clubs have won provincial championships and runners-up for consecutive years. Indeed, sports have become a major feature of the Eurasia education model.

If we see it from the point of view of an individual, I would like to attribute the victory gained by the Eurasia men's basketball team to four qualities they possess, that is, faith, action, perseverance, and transcendence. Teacher Liu Qing and his team came together with their love for basketball. It was exactly this heartfelt love and the determined pursuit of the basketball championship that created faith in their hearts. This faith has nothing to do with the resources invested by the university or the curriculum, nothing to do with whether or not there are star players on the team, but rather it comes from the pursuit of values within the individual. When there is strong faith, actions will be taken. The training of the Eurasia men's basketball team is not only strict, but more importantly, the training itself must be in line with the basic principles of basketball, which means it must be scientific and methodical. With scientific guidance, players need regularly planned practice and persistence in what they're doing, coupled with relevant club activities, competitions, and player incentives. The Eurasia men's basketball team grows from an amateur to a professional, and from chasing to transcendence. This is inevitable. Of course, this transcendence may take a long time. The Eurasia men's basketball team took five years to win the championship. This means that we need to adhere to longtermism. The earth has music for those who listen.

Faith, action, perseverance, and transcendence are the secrets of the men's basketball team to win the championship and the motto I would like to share with you all. We should have these qualities in sports, as well as in other aspects. The quality and development of Xi'an Eurasia University are obvious to everyone, and the key point is still the same. Maybe you have heard about many other secrets to "success" before, but I would like to emphasize that "success" or "excellence" is only a by-product of doing something. Only when we start from the heart and take faith as the initial intention and driving force, the things we do will have a soul and meaning, which is why we should put faith first, instead of transcendence.

I hope all students can choose a sport to accompany you, from which you can gradually see the light of faith, the fruitfulness of action, the power of perseverance, and the joy of transcendence. There are specialized sports programs such as baseball, softball, tennis, Frisbee, and cycling, as well as common sports programs such as soccer, basketball, badminton, rope-jumping, and running, so you can always find a sport that suits you. Our skateboard plaza is under construction, and this year, the construction of a new swimming pool and gymnasium will start. In the future, the university will continue to build more distinctive sports facilities and venues to provide a better sports environment for students so that you can develop a love for and enjoy sports and build a positive and confident attitude towards life through sports.
